The single biggest criticism of Twitter isn’t exactly new. All over the place you’ll see people proclaiming that they don’t “get” Twitter. Typically, their complaint is that “all” Twitter posts are things like:

Cat went outside.

компютри втора употребаCat came inside.

Cat went outside, so I ate a cheese sandwich.

Huh. Haven’t seen the cat for a while

I say that this criticism isn’t new because that’s nearly the exact same argument that the critics made about blogging. The thing to note is that there are still blogs that read exactly like that and there will always be blogs that read like that. However, as people got the hang of the format, people (as a whole) have been figuring out how to make it more interesting.

Now, you’ll find people who call Twitter asynchronous instant messaging, a form of SMS text messaging,Um bei einem Internet Kasino online rent a car bulgaria Poker online poker spielen zu k

What works for one writer doesn’t necessarily work for another. So, I’ve taken to collecting lists of things to do when writer’s block strikes.

Today, I ran across another list in this genre, conveniently compiled into a neat 10-item list. One that isn’t on most such list is just to lower your standards.

I’ve frequently had dry stretches because I want to post a “good” post or one that matches some ideal standard in my head. However, in lots of cases, putting out a shorter, simpler post can jar loose the floodgates.

Web publishing in general and blogging specifically have obliterated the barriers that used to prevent people from expressing themselves. Today, the means of expressing yourself on a blog are available to everyone.

This site is a guide and will hopefully be a community dedicated to navigating this new democracy: the Republic of Blog.

I’ve got some ideas for pushing this ideal forward and welcome other suggestions and contributions as well.

A guideline/charter document claiming the rights and outlining the responsibilities inherent in participating in this new republic.

Those who are willing to endorse the document would be able to claim citizenship.

An award for bloggers who are serving as shining examples of how citizens of the Republic of Blog do things.

A place for me to write about my experiences blogging. I don’t like to write *about* blogging on my other blogs. This site is a place for those thoughts.
